HOCKEY PROGRAM

O.V.W.H.A. hockey program was created and designed to develop and promote hockey players who are committed to enhancing their skills in preparation for the next level of hockey. Our program provides hockey players the physical, mental, and moral development of youth athletes. Through skill development and Positive reinforcement, players will learn the key to success is hard-work, self-confidence, dedication and respect. 

The foundation in developing new skills and becoming a stronger and better hockey player is without a doubt a good working ethic.

Our hockey development programs includes:

 

Traveling to out of town Games base on the need of the Team.

Lodging for players to out of town events base on the need of the Team.

Approximately 50 to 60 games distributed as follows:

Tournaments / Showcases / Exchange Games:

  • We compete in the PSHF & USPHL in events across the United States and Canada.

  • Play against some of the top programs like Northwood, Trinity, Blyth Academy, Bishops College School, Boston Jr. Bruins, South Florida Academy, Kings Edgehill School, CP Dynamo, OHA and Jersey Himen; just to name a few.

  • High exposure to scouts from USPHL, NCAA, Junior, CHL, USHL,NHL and more.

 

Approximately 110 hours of on-ice development distributed as follows: 

Skills Sessions:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with APEX SKATING. (Depending on Team Schedule)

  • Focus on individual techniques

  • Goalie development: 1 hour on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with EOGA. (Depending on Team Schedule)

 

Team Practices:

  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (Depending on Team Schedule)

  • Focus on individual & team tactics 

Off-Ice development distributed as follows:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with CAPITAL STRENGHT.

  • Focus on physical strength, power output, cardio, agility, flexibility and speed

  • Hockey yoga

  • Mental Training

  • Nutrition

 

In-class development distributed as follows: 

  • NPU accredited courses on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Nutrition

  • Hockey related aspects on Friday. (Depending on Team Schedule)
